Being Productive From Home – Greatway Financial

During the wake of the COVID-19, it is understandable that many offices and institutions are taking appropriate measures to reduce the risk of propagation and help one another to be productive in alternative ways. For those who are challenged by the recent pandemic, and have opted to remain at home – while pursuing work activities – we thought it prudent to share a few ways by which you can be productive even from home.

Whether at home or in the office, the best way to be productive is to create a good morning routine. This is the best way to start your day. Try to get up early, eat a healthy breakfast, and follow a routine that engages your senses, while empowering you to be in a positive state of mind. Many successful people have similar morning routines, which include exercising, meditation, good meals, and then, quickly scanning their inboxes to find the most urgent tasks. You can also try the same rituals in order to ensure that you have a predictable, productive day. (Related: Increase Quality Time & Cut Downtime)

The first thing to do in the morning is to “warm-up” your brain. In other words, stimulate your cerebral nature and engage your cognitive powers early – rev up your engine. Understandably, prioritizing can be challenging. Sometimes we can’t have a productive day because we just don’t know where to start. In this case, the best approach would be to list everything you need to get done prior to beginning your activities. Then, simply prioritize these tasks based on importance and urgency. All you need to do is focus on one thing at a time; In order of importance. Be sure to block out the noise, by being in an environment that is tranquil. Other than soft music and nice aromas in the air, other types of barriers can be quite distracting.  That’s why it’s important to know where and when you work best, and how you are stimulated. If you need a little background noise to keep you on track, that’s okay.

Most importantly, aside from the stimulating music and fresh aroma – or even the productive routine, one cannot accomplish work without being focused. Indeed, discipline is necessary in order to be productive. Nevertheless, remember to take breaks. Taking breaks allows you to stay focused. However, it can also drain a lot of energy, if you become too comfortable. To reduce mental fatigue, though, while staying on task, try to use techniques such as stretching, taking a moment to enjoy fresh air or even dance. Singing works too.  After your “fun session”, be sure to get back on task and finish what you started.

In conclusion, after all the hard work you do during the day, make sure to give yourself time to reflect. Celebrate your productive, revise what needs to be done the next day and stop working. Yes, stop working (even those of us who are workaholics must learn to enjoy the blessing that is life).  No matter how you execute a productive day, remember that it is done through a process of incremental events. Some things are in your control and others aren’t. Nevertheless, do your best, stay focused and when it’s done, call it a day. (Related: Good Morning)
